On the Home Stretch

It's the 22nd, and I am, I can hardly believe I'm saying it, pretty much ready for Christmas. lol! I have one more gift to get for the Christmas party at my in-laws. Whew! I really didn't think i would make it. Today I made lunch for all my co-workers & gifted them all with note card sets (made by me of course!) I can't wait to post them in the coming weeks because they turned out quite fabby if I say so myself!
Today I am posting the last 2 Christmas cards I made, one for my boss & one for my very good co-worker friend.
They were so much fun to make. the image is called Snowday & is by Mo Manning
Isn't it too sweet! I just love the look of pure joy on her face. I colored w/ my Prisma's & used goo gone to blend, I cut the snowflakes w/ my cricut, added glitter glue by Studio G. The dp is out of my ever growing, always neglected scrap pile.

I am entering on the following challenges:

How does this ALWAYS happen?!!!

Christmas is the same time every year. Same day, marked on the calendar. Yet it never fails, it seems to sneak up on me & all of a sudden BLAMO!! It's only a few days away. I think I am very near done with my shopping. I got most of my out of town gifts shipped. I have most of my cards made....I think! I have not started to even think about my Christmas card list, so I'm not really sure if I am near the finish line. Hopefully the boys will give me a little quiet tonight so that I can think & get some envelopes addressed. Cross your fingers for me. I may have to unplug the xbox just to guarantee it happens lol!
So that cards that I have been able to finish I have been making in sets of 4 or six. these ones I made using a Stamp Fairy image, i think he is called Barry January. I added a few stamped in snow flakes, colored him using my Prisma pencils. I had planned to add glitter to the snow, but in my late night crafting adventures, I forgot.
I have been crazy busy getting all my crafted Christmas presents made that I haven't been able to post any of my cards. Hopefully I will be able to get caught up soon!
I am entering on the following challenges:

Holiday Traditions

Each year, as the main fundraiser, our local Hospice has a holiday event where organizations in town donate decorated trees, hand made quilts & other items for a silent & live auction. We always do a tree & it is a true team effort. As soon as the main theme is announced, we brain storm ideas & usually try to do our own spin on it so that we can get down & crafty & end up with a finished product that is truly "us". This year the theme is "Classic Christmas" and our spin for our tree is "Classic Cowgirl" with the over all theme being a Dale Evens quote "It's the way you ride the trail that counts".

This sparkly garland is going to be used through out the tree & in the hand made topper

Lots of sparkle & bling, what more could a cowgirl want?!
We are using tons of red, gold, stars, sparkle, & shiny yumminess
These are just a few of my favorite, favorite ornaments that I made. For the middle two, I scanned the fabric that we used for a mini quilt & for the tree skirt, fussy cut the images & added swirlies & stars cut w/ my cricut & lots of bling. The last one is a photo we found online &I distressed the edges w/ my distress ink) & one of the girls here painted on the gold design (free hand-didn't she do an amazing job?!) and I added blingies. We did 25 of these big decoupaged wooden ornaments, 18small circle wooden ornaments, 40 grapevine stars w/ woodsy garland (not pictured). So needless to say, we have been busy! (why I haven't blogged for a few weeks... With Thanksgiving & this, I haven't had time for my own stuff)

We decorate tonight & the auction is Saturday night. I will have to do an update post w/ pics of the finished tree & then how much of a bid it goes for. So exciting! This is my "kick off" to the Christmas season & I am really getting into the mood! Which is a good thing because I've got a TON of cards to make & gifts to get done!

Crisp, clear, starry nights

I love it this time of year, when the nights are so clear you can see forever into the starry skies. (I don't necessarily love the freezing old part lol!) So that was my inspiration for this card
The stamps are all The {Stamps} of Life (colored w/ my Bic markers) & I layered the torn white cardstock w/ different sized foam dots to add dimension. I also added just a light shadow of blue ink across the top & dusted w/ glitter so it really sparkles. The little puffs of smoke coming out of the chimney are also popped up w/ foam tape.

I'm entering on the following Challenges:

Fab N Funky, baby it's cold outside
Make it Monday, anything goes
Do You Stack Up, splash of blue
Crimbo Crackers, make it sparkle
ABC Challenge, D: dazzle

Wishing for more vacation time...

Hi everyone! I've been gone for a bit, off on vacation in warm, tropical Mexico & I have to say I've missed being crafty, but I am really missing the warm air & sparkling pool at the resort right now! It's always so hard to jump back into "normal" after a wonderful break away. I am HATING my washing machine right now.. seems like I just can't get away from it! Tee Hee! Here is the fabulous view I just can't shake
Ok, so enough whining & on to business :-)
It is my Boss's birthday today & here is a little sumthin sumthin I put together for her.
The dp is all from a huge stack (don't remember which one or who it is by-I think My Mind's Eye) the ink is CTMH, the chalk ink I used behind the flowers & also around the edge is Studio G. I used the branches4flowers from The {Stamps} of Life & the sentiment is from birthday4cookie.
Here is a close up of the flowers. I distressed the edges of the fussy cut ones to give them more dimension. The pearls are recollections.

Happy "Owl"oween

Fall is SO in the air here! It is like October hit & the temperatures automatically took a nose dive lol! I've had to build a fire a couple of nights now to take the chill off the house & have woke up to find frosty roof tops a couple times too. Leaves are starting to change colors & drop & the sun is setting earlier every day. Which means less time to do outside chores & more time to craft! (not always the case but it's nice to dream!) Last night after taking the boy to get some school stuff I was feeling the crafty urge & the bright nearly full moon outside inspired me to create this.
This is so much cuter in real life..so hard to photograph such a dark card. I chalked in some depth to the moon w/ grey chalk & that doesn't show in the photograph either.
The star DP is DCWV & I used stamps from 2 different sets from The {Stamps} of Life owls2love & the clouds are from kites2build. I hand cut the circle for the moon so that it wouldn't be perfectly round & added some iridescent glitter glue around the outside edge to give it a sparkly halo & attached the fussy cut owl w/ foam squares so he pops up a little. Easy peasy Halloweenie!

Woo Hoo!

My October set from The {Stamps} of Life were waiting for me in my mailbox last night & I actually was able to break them open & stamp with them on the first night! That hasn't happened FOREVER!
It's called penguins4christmas & has a ton of cute stamps & sentiments! I used foam squares to add the stack of prezzies so that the edge of my joy fold card would rest underneath to stay closed & the present he is holding is on a foam dot too. The fluffy bow on top of it is a prima flower folded in half & trimmed a little w/ a brad added.

Here is the inside. The frame is a {Stamps} of Life also-it was a fun freebie Stephanie added in w/ a set a couple months back & the sentiment is from this month's set. I know I've said it a bunch, but I just LOVE being club member!

Trick or Treat!

Hello everyone! Sorry I have been MIA for a while.... Lots going on & unfortunately I have had no time or energy to craft.. So glad to be back to myself again tho! It felt REALLY GOOD to sit down at my desk & be creative last night.
I don't usually do Halloween cards, but I found this super sweet witch digi on Torico's digi blog & fell in love with her. The dp is a Heidi Grace design I picked up last weekend, again I saw, loved it, had to have it! I also used a gift certificate from my mom I've been holding onto to pick up some Prismacolors pencils... OH MY GOSH! How nice it is to have them! SOOO much better to color with than the ones I had picked up from the school supply section. I've been wanting to try coloring on kraft (I've been drooling over the incredible images that Dorcas creates, click on the link & check out her work!) I've got a ways to go before my blending & shading skills are perfected but it sure is fun to practice!

Good Bye Summer.....

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!! It's a good day here, because it's Friday however I'm just a little sad..... so hard to believe it is the LAST Friday of the summer. WHERE DID TIME GO? Seems like I didn't have nearly as much play time this summer & have worked way too much. Guess I will have to make up for it by playing extra hard this winter....
Ok, now on to the business at hand ;) I don't get to make baby cards very often, so it was quite fun to get the chance to make one. In fact, I will need to make a second one soon lol! two different friends of the family have announced grand babies coming soon. For this one, I had an idea in my head of what I wanted to do & it took just a little work with positioning to get it to translate onto cardstock. I really wanted to have the baby peeking out of the buggy & was going to merge the images, but then I thought it would be way cuter to punch a window & have the baby on the inside of the card
here is the inside. the "congrats" sentiment is from a {Stamps} of Life set

The baby buggy is a digi I found online when I first started using digi's & I did not save where I found it.. sorry. it is a cute one & I had fun coloring it. the sweet bunting baby image is from Bugaboo. Have you checked out their new website? Lots of very cool stuff going on there! All the papers are from my scrap pile & I have no clue who they are by. The sentiment stamp on the front is from a Studio G set.
here is a view of the enter front

Floral Thank you

I know that I have told Y'all before just how much I love being a club member of The {Stamps} of Life. It is SOOOO much fun getting brand spankin' new rubba in the mail the first of every month. But I have to admit, I have been bad lately. Some how this summer has turned into the craziest, busiest ever & for the past few months, the new stamps have came in, been lovingly placed on my craft desk  & then not touched again. So sad! So when the opportunity came up to craft last night, I had to reach for my August set to redeem myself before the month was over! And here is what I came up with
The set is called branches4flowers & boy was it a fun set to play with & it has a ton of great sentiments with it. I used CTMH ink in Gypsy & new England Ivy as well as a lavender colored chalk ink that I picked up at Michael's for the flowers & the leaves. I inked the edges first in Vintage Photo distress ink & then I went over it w/ a sand colored chalk ink to blend it in & give it the look I wanted. I still am working on my technique- haven't quite got the sponging down the way I would like it to be. I cut a few of the larger flowers out, bent the edges a bit & then glued them on for a bit more dimension. I love how it turned out!
The ribbon is some I picked up at Walmart & the little half pearls are Recollections from Michael's. I used black, white & lavender.
I am entering this on the following challenges:

For the Love of a Fur Baby

I'm not sure why I decided that I needed to add a heeler to my family. I don't know who told me that they were wonderful, smart dogs. All I do know is that they are WAY different from the black lab that we had before.... My sweet little fur baby has been with me for a little over 3 years now & let me tell you there were days when I wasn't sure if he would make it with our family! If you have never had the pleasure of being in the "pack" of a heeler then you are not going to relate. OMGosh, it is a different world! If they are bored, or unhappy, everyone is unhappy & they will find ways to keep themselves occupied & the activities they find on their own are not always family approved! (I believe as a pup my guy chewed thru 4 garden hoses & could not keep the stuffing inside any bed I ever brought home for him) But now I have a special friend who wants to mind & behave -after that initial rush of excitement that he is no longer alone..no one has EVER been so happy to see me! And I am truly the center of his world.

I fell in love with the Bronte images at Mo's Digital Pencil because they remind me so much of my Rhett. Of course he hasn't quite acquired the stocky body yet, but the looks Mo captures are spot on for his personality. The challenge this week at Mo's Digital Challenge is to make an easel card w/ an animal on it so I had to use one w/ Bronte
I tried really hard to get my coloring to match my baby's markings, not sure I hit the mark, but came close!
Here is a close up of him & here is the "real" baby
The sentiment is from Create with TLC, I just cut it into sections & then popped up on circles that I punched out & put together to mimic the circles on the DP

Quickie Card

I love it so much when an idea comes together & I especially love it when it comes together quickly! I needed a quick lil sumthin sumthin to pop in the mail & wanted to play along with a couple challenges while I was at it & YAY! here it is!
I colored little miss Cherry w/ my pencils & then blended w/ paper stumps & some goo gone. I used my markers on the cherries & the basket
I recently found some great digi stamps that I LOVE, by Mo Manning. Oh my gosh, I could spend an entire pay check on her images! They are all too sweet-I especially love her Bronte images, they remind me so much of my stinky, hairy Red Heeler fur baby Rhett! I will be coloring up some of those later, can't wait! So any how there is a challenge blog for her stuff Bronte & Bellas Challenge & the challenge this week is something sweet but it must be food related. How sweet is lil miss Cherry?! I am head over heels for this image (this is the second card I've made using her)
I used this weeks Sweet Stop Sketch for a starting point & the DP is from DCWV Sweet pad. The sentiment is from a DCWV Friends sticker pad. I am also playing along with Make It Monday, anything goes & ABC Challenge, A is for auburn.

Happiness

This is the last birthday card I needed to make for all the office birthdays this month. When I saw this incredibly adorable image called Shire at Mo's Digital Pencil I knew it would be PERFECT for this person.

I used my pencils to color the main part of the image using the Gamsol method & then used markers for the fence, grass & to add a little dimension to the dirt. Then I used chalk ink for the dirt & the cloudy sky. The sentiment is a rub on, i believe by Making memories

The challenge last week at Crazy4challenges was to make a Joy fold card & even tho I wasn't able to get in on the challenge, I really wanted to try it since I haven't made a lot of cards w/ specialty folds. How fun! This week's sketch at CPS fit perfect w/ the idea I had in mind for the front of this card
Here is the inside

For the inside, I cropped the main image down to focus on their sweet faces, used a circle punch & then doodled around it. I was trying to do a bit of a barbed wire look w/ it to keep w/ the country/western horsey theme.

close up.  I forgot to add the sentiment inside before I photographed :(   It read:  "Wishing you a day filled with all the things that bring you happiness & joy. Happy Birthday".   I attached it to the right of the girl & horse image.
So I was very good & got all the info together on the makers of the dp because I used so many different patterns & then I left my little sticky note at home on my craft desk :(  I am pretty sure the double sided brown swirl/lt blue is American Crafts, I know the horse is a Debbie Mumm design but I can't remember the company, & the word DP on the inside I really can't remember.

I really really love how this card turned out! & my co-worker/friend just loved it too! YAY! I think I will definitely be making more joy fold cards in the future!

I am playing along with the following:
CPS, Sketch
Make it Monday, Anything goes + linky party

Wow What a Week!

I have been so crafty this week! And I have actually been able to steal a few minutes here & there to actually post what I've made! yay! The last few weeks have been kind of hard, busy, & un-inspired so it REALLY feels sooo good to back at my craft desk. So here is my second card for the day:
Its for my nephew's 17th birthday this weekend. I'm glad that July is near an end because I have had A LOT of birthday cards to make! I think only 1 or 2 more to go. My son's birthday is tomorrow (he is pretty happy that he is the older one between him & my nephew.. by 1 whoppin day lol!) and he is not a sentimental kind of kid so I gave up on giving him any kind of card at any time. The cake image was a freebie I found on Dustin Pike's blog... He has some very fun stuff! both dp's are Imaginesce. I inked around the edges of the circle piece w/ some Navy Martha Stewart ink. I colored a second candle & applied it over the other w/ foam tape just for fun.

I got my start with the Mojo Monday sketch #200, but used the mini clothes pins in place of the bow... figured it would up the "manly" factor lol! I am also going to play along at The Pixie Cottage where the theme is Fun with Food & at Card Makin Mamas where the theme is Food & Drink.

So that's it for me! Have a great weekend everyone! And hopefully I can keep up this momentum for next week too!

Cozy Winter Wishes

This sweet image reminds me of the pure, simple joy Christmas brought when I was a kid. My sister & I would turn all the lights off in the house & lay under the tree to watch the lights reflect off the limbs and the ceiling. (the tinsel too..remember the good ole tinsel from the 70's?!!! Couldn't put it too close to the lights or it would melt to them)
 Good times!
It's Friday YAY!! But also a little sad :( I have been having a lot of fun this week playing along with the Christmas in July mini challenges at Catch the Bug (today is anything goes) & I now have 5 more holiday cards in my file for this December. WOO HOO! I really like how this simple card turned out so I do believe I will be making a few more very similar. I may actually end up with enough homemade cards for my entire holiday card list this year! Hee Hee.... I have been pressed for time the past few years, so I have not sent out as many cards as I really wanted.
So on to the details! The sweet image is by Jodie over at Bugaboo, I colored with my Bic markers & then sponged a little chalk ink around him. I used some liquid applique for the "fuzzy" parts on the hat & the cuffs, added a chunk of ribbon, then added a little rub-on for the sentiment. The dp came from the same pack, but once again, I failed to pay attention to who it was by..I promiss to be better :)

I am also playing along with:
CPS, Their great CAS sketches work well with my crafting style
The Spotted Chick, That's Krafty Thursday #52
Sassy Studio Designs, Dare to be Sassy Thursday #82, CAS

Don't be surprised if you see me back again today... I have been on a creative spree this week! If not, HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!

Snow Business

Wow this week is flying by! The Christmas in July mini challenge at Catch The Bug is Snow Business- make project w/ snow or snowmen. I just love this line of snowmen so it was fun to get to color one up!

Up close look, I used colored him w/ my pencils & then added glitter to give the snow some sparkle then threw on some bling & some blingy snowflakes for giggles :)

OK, so I was horrible again today-I have no idea who the dp is by, the sentiment is a sticker & it is off a sheet of freebies I got from a magazine renewal. I have to say I have had a lot of inspiration flowing this week & it has been very nice to get a few holidays cards built up in my file. I think there should be a "Christmas" celebration  every month & maybe I wouldn't have to rush around to get cards finished on the 15th of December! ROFL! I don't think my holiday traditions would quite feel the same without that pressure over me tho...

I am also entering on the following:
Sweet Stop Sketches, Sketch w/ a spin this week: Christmas in July

My Grafico, Anything Goes

Gotta love Gus!

For the Christmas in July Mini Challenge today Catch the Bug has the following sketch:
I decided that I just had to use this fun Gus image that I've had forever...

I colored him w/ my Bic markers & colored pencils, added some glitter to the "fluffy" areas & then added some glossy accent to make his glasses good & thick. (doesn't show in the photo, but they are like Coke bottle bottoms lol!)
The reindeer dp is K&Co & the stripe is Pink Paislee. I added some sparkly mini tree brads- I think they are Making Memories, but am not sure-I've had them in my hoarders drawer for a while.

I am also entering this on the following:
Make It Monday, anything goes w/ a linky party
ABC Christmas O is for Older- user an older image
My Grafico, Anything Goes
Paper Sundaes, Christmas in July

So have you joined in on the fun over at Catch The Bug? There is still time! Tomorrow's mini challenge is "Snow Business"- make a project w/ a snow theme. And there is a blog hop going on until Friday Night.

Christmas Ruby

So for the second Christmas in July mini challenge at Catch the Bug we were given this adorable freebie called Christmas Ruby to use on a project.
I colored her in w/ my Bic markers & then inked the background w/ some chalk ink & went over the edges w/ a dark green ink (CTMH-I don't remember the color name) The peace sentiment & the ornament are from a set called Holly4Christmas from The {Stamps} of Life. the dotted dp is Bo Bunny, but I am not sure who the green is by- I know, BAD me! I was on a roll & didn't really pay alot of attention to what I was grabbin to use... let me tell ya, the paper was flyin & everything was inky by the end of the night lol!
I used this week's sketch from The Crafty Ho's as my starting point & I am also uploading to the following challenges: Creative Inspirations Christmas in July; My Grafico Anything Goes;

Christmas in July Celebration

It is a BIG celebration going on over at Catch the Bug this week. Filled with mini challenges each day, a blog hop & lots of prizes! SO I am a little late getting stuff posted :( but it's better late than never! And since the very first challenges I entered when I started my blog where the mini challenges for their birthday I just had to play along with this week's mini challenges too! I love me my Bugaboo!
SO the first mini challenge was to use non-traditional colors & here is what I came up with
I used one of Jodie's sweet new tag images to make this fun gift card holder. The gift card slips inside & is held in place by the ribbon. I used an ornament stamp from my Holly4Christmas set from The {Stamps} of Life on the light blue background cardstock
I am also entering this on:
The Stamping Boutique, use cool colors
Stamp Something, Christmas

Well that's it for now.. I will be back later with more-I was a busy girl last night! I love when imspiration hits!

Better late than never

I have been meaning to post this since last Wednesday... I've been crazy busy at work, crazy at home & then I took a much needed four day weekend to relax & celebrate my birthday. I figured that I should since it is the last I will publicly celebrate- I've decided if you are gonna be the same age for a while, it may as well be 39! ROFL!
So anyhow, I made this using last week's CPS Sketch as a starting point with my cousin in mind. It was her birthday on the 16th. (She loved it by the way)
I used my cricut to cut the sun & the circle background, the stamps I used around the border are from 2 different sets from  The {Stamps} of Life, I used a Scarlette image (colored w/ my Bic markers & attached w/ foam tape) from Bugaboo, & the DP is Flair Design- I cut out the beach chair from one piece & layered over the word sheet.
I am squeaking in just in time to enter on the following:
Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes
Card Making Mama's Summertime

I have a billion ideas flowing right now, I guess a little time to re-set helps with that, so I should be back a lot more this week! Later!
